Solution ID:    SO13988    Updated:    07/27/2016

Follow these instructions to generate a CSR for your Web site. When you have completed this process, you will have a CSR ready to submit to RapidSSL in order to be generated into a SSL certificate.

With cPanel 9 it is recommended to use WHM for the CSR generation.

WHM (Web Hosting Manager)

WebHost Manager is the control center of the CPanel / WebHost Manager package. It is used to set up and manage accounts. Use WHM to generate your CSR and install your issued certificate.

To generate an CSR for an SSL certificate:

1. Click on the Generate an SSL certificate and Signing Request link in the SSL/TLS menu.
2. Enter the fully qualified domain name that the certificate will be issued to.
3. Enter the subject details of the certificate in the Country, State, City, Company Name, Company Division, and Email fields.
4. Click Create

Note: Including a CSR password or email address are not recommended.  The certificate will be available in your account or it will be sent to the Technical Contact listed on the order.
